Dental Implants

Dental Implant FAQs for Your Knowledge

Dental Implants are one of the best options for anyone who has lost one or more of their teeth. Replacing a missing tooth or multiple teeth with dental implants not only gives the patient a natural looking and feeling tooth back but helps in keeping the jawbone healthy for years to come.

Dental implants are typically easy to install if the jawbone is healthy. After installation, a dental crown is placed on the post and gives the natural look and feel of a tooth. Patients quickly notice that there is not any getting used to the implant because eating and chewing is done just like usual, and there is no movement from dental implants.

Is there a maximum number of teeth that can be replaced with implants?

From a single tooth to all of a person’s teeth, there is no minimum or maximum amount of teeth that can be replaced with dental implants. Many people that would typically opt for dentures are now turning to implants to replace all of their teeth.

Is dental implant surgery painful?

Most patients are shocked at how little pain if any, they experience with the procedure. Of course, it is vital to follow all of the post-operation instructions that will be given by the dentist, but overall it is not considered major surgery and pain should never be a reason someone detours from getting dental implants!

How should you care for dental implants?

This is one aspect of dental implants that make them even more of the best way for people to replace missing teeth when dentists say that implants are just like natural teeth, that includes the cleaning and maintenance.

Just like a natural tooth, implants require brushing twice a day and flossing. There is no extra care needed for implants aside from a good dental hygiene routine that is necessary for a person’s natural teeth.

Who is a good candidate for dental implants?

Typically most people are. However, it is essential to have a consultation and examination with a dentist first. They will be able to look at the person’s needs and know exactly if implants are the best choice. Having this consultation will also give the person a chance to ask any additional and specific questions in regards to their teeth and dental goals.
